Chimpanzee Faces in the Wild
This webpage contains datasets and supplementary information for the following paper:
A. Freytag, E. Rodner, M. Simon, A. Loos, H. Kühl, and J. Denzler. Chimpanzee Faces in the Wild: Log-Euclidean CNNs for Predicting Identities and Attributes of Primates. German Conference on Pattern Recognition (GCPR). 2016.
Description
We provide two datasets of cropped chimpanzee faces: C-Zoo and C-Tai. For details of both datasets, please refer to the corresponding paper. In addition to the pure images, the dataset comes with annotations of identity, gender, age, and age group. All annotations have been provided by experts. More details about statistics of data are shown in the supplementary material. We provide five splits intro train and test which have been used to produce the results in Table 1 of the GCPR’16 paper.
Each of the two datasets (CZoo and CTai) comes with a separate README.md which lists statistics of each dataset as well as baseline results for identification, age estimation, age group classification, and gender estimation.

Use of dataset
Please check out the README.md file!
Furthermore, check out the files in the provided folder demo_access_data which demonstrate how annotations can be easily used.
If you use the dataset, please cite the paper mentioned above.
