LEPMON Kickoff Meeting

On March 31st, the official kickoff for the developments in the second funding period of the LEPMON project happened with an in-person meeting in Jena. For the first time, all project staff had the chance to get to know each other personally and to discuss their respective project aims and specific research tasks, especially considering joint activities for the next 12 months. From our group, also our new colleague Hui Yu attended, who officially started his PhD position on April 1st. His research focus will be knowledge integration into machine learning methods for fine-grained visual recognition of insect species, in particular Lepidoptera and other nocturnal insects that are monitored with the camera light traps developed, deployed, and maintained by project partners within LEPMON. Welcome Hui and all the best for your research studies in our group!
